Our Holiday Club runs during school breaks, including local in service days (excluding Christmas/New Year). Offering a fun-filled, safe and engaging environment for school-aged children. Each day is thoughtfully planned with a variety of activities based on children's interests, ensuring there's something for everyone. Indoor activities m

Our Holiday Club runs during school breaks, including local in service days (excluding Christmas/New Year). Offering a fun-filled, safe and engaging environment for school-aged children. Each day is thoughtfully planned with a variety of activities based on children's interests, ensuring there's something for everyone. Indoor activities may include karaoke, arts & crafts, hall games, face painting, baking and creative play. Outdoor fun features sports days and field games, play parks, river dipping, nature trails and much more. We also organise outings to country parks, the zoo, cinema, and other places of interest. Full-day and Half-day sessions are available.

Our Breakfast Clubs are relaxed and friendly, offering a healthy breakfast followed by games, quiet activities and homework time before being escorted to school.

Children are collected from school and  escorted  back to the club where snack is provided. Followed by child led play and activities planned by observing and listening to children's likes and interests. Activities such as arts & crafts, group games, board games & puzzles, sports, drama, dance, music, outdoor play, sensory fun, local walks and trips to the park and much much more!

About Us

As a grassroots not for Profit Company established in 2014, we understand the necessity of affordable, quality, flexible and inclusive school aged childcare for local families. 


Children’s rights to rest, relax and play (UNCRC Article 31 1989) are at the heart of all our endeavours. School’s Out belongs to the children, it is their club and their ‘free time’. We as a team are privileged to play a small part in their journeys and share in creating new memories, excitement and fun. 

Our work is underpinned by the Play Principles and we include a range of Play Types throughout our session’s i.e. messy play, active play, digital play, outdoor play and imaginary play. 


We are committed to implementing the National Health & Social Care Standards and proudly work in partnerships with families, children, schools, local council, community services and social work to ensure all children in our care are Safe, Health, Achieving, Nurtured, Active, respected, Responsible, included.

Meet Clare – Our Founder and Director

 

Clare created School's Out so that children would have a fun and safe space to play, meet friends and belong.


Since graduating from Edinburgh University in 2000; BA Community Education, Clare has worked in senior roles in both the Third Sector, Local and National Government throughout Scotland, Northern Ireland and Germany empowering communities for the benefit of children, young people and families. 


With a Level 9 in Leadership, PDA Childhood Practice & PgD Restorative Practice, Clare brings a wealth of knowledge, skills and experiences to run quality Out of School Care services for school- aged children.

Our team is made up of highly trained and experienced staff who are passionate about working with children. We are committed to giving each child the best possible experience.


We are also proud to offer employment opportunities for local young people. Through our links with Borders and Edinburgh College we are supporting the next generation to build meaningful careers in childcare and play.

  

Since opening we are proud to have retained, developed and supported out original team. As a company we know people are our most valuable asset and we strive to ensure they feel valued, supported and included in all our endeavours.
